In the last years Intel already has brought some movement into the market by launching their low-priced Mini-ITX Mainboards (D201GLY2(A), D945GCLF(2)) but now again is starting a new revolution with a new generation of mainboards.

The power consumption of the new Intel „Half-Height“ mainboard, when comparing to his bigger brothers, has been reduced from over 30W to below 20W. This has been achieved by using the new Mobile Atom CPU which can be operated with passive cooling. And in addition Intel has managed to reduce the height to an outstanding 2 cm. This will lead to new generation of Small form factor systems with high feature density in a very small room.

But also when it comes to extension possibilities Intel has brought in some new ideas. There optionally will be available two new modules :
- Mini-PCI-express GPRS/UMTS–modul with integriated WLAN
- USB SSD modul as HDD substitutio for integration on the internal USB connector
Both modules can be installed without increasing the overall height of 2 cm .

Notes:
- The board can be powered directly from an AC/DC adapter.
- For vehcile-operation you can use the "DC/DC converter for Intel D945GSEJT".
- The board comes with a standard I/O Full height ATX rear plate.

The board is just great and the lack of the bulky power supply is a godsend for the ones trying to come up with a very small PC. It takes 12V and only takes about 28W in use. Being an Atom board is aimed for web browsing / office applications. The fact that it's passive coled makes all the difference. The silence really is golden.

Ich habe dieses Mainboard jetzt schon über 2 Wochen im Einsatz. Es ist schon unglaublich was für eine Technik in so einem kleinem Mainboard steckt. Im Moment tut es seinen Dienst im Auto. Ich bin am überlegen dieses Mainboard als Basis für einen Internet-PC-Ersatz nochmal zu kaufen.

Fantasic piece of hardware! I've been running it of a USB-stick and it's kind of strange to not be able to hear if the computer is on or off.
During the first boot I entered the BIOS menu and got a little bit concerned that it was so slow. But when running Ubuntu Server it performs fantastic in relation to the ammount of power it draws.

Very good board, silent with PSU, 7 USB and 2 audio out. Great for carpc and home server. The only negative point, don't have BT or Wireless on board.
