From admin:
Does the drive work in windows explorer ?

Yes with windows media player

An I've an another bug when readind DVD : The interface is hide by the movie and I can't click to do something on the screen..like that touchscreen facility is disabled. Then only thing to do in this case is to eject dvd. Somtimes I have a message "Auto Adjust" (write by CID650 screen using Centrafuse only) and I hear the music of the DVD but nothing else appears on screen Sad

hmm is listen like a hardware problem. please put your ear directly to the CDROM Insert tray. If you insert a DVD, do you hear a "Laserseek" noise long time? (i hope you know what i mean.. always when you insert a CD or DVD to a cdrom player you hear some krsch krsch... (that is the seeking sound when you insert a CD) is this sound longer with dvd than with cd? (maybe he cannot read really the DVD. maybe you can try into the windows explorer "right" mouseklick to the cdrom Drive and chose open with exporer. Do you see the files on the DVD? or install for trying the VLC (videoLAN) that´s is the best freeware mediaplayer overall, they brings some special Video codecs with it for free. Can VLC play DVD? Or try a VIDEO CD.. is this still playing?

I dont know if it'a a hardware problem. I think that Centrafuse don't found my DVD rom player because the Eject button doesen't works (with the 1.20 it's works). I know VLC player, I will install it.

Under windows, I don't test to browse dvd files Wink The next tomorrow or this night maybe Wink

hmm.. is the eject button works when you not starting centrafuse?
we will see, try VLC and than we found a way :-) I have installed a DVD multinorm burner, that works fine. Maybe a other problem can be the settings of your Device. (Cable select, master, slave device.) maybe that´s the Problem? Normally i think not, but the centrafuse deployer insert so many functions, maybe he use that informations about the drive (it is jumpered als slave or as an master or....) use for special features or settings in CF.

So the best way is to try from scratch without centrafuse. I think you have installed your Windows XP with this DVD ROM? and this works fine.. you can read CDROms. so it must be a other Problem.

Maybe graphic card drivers, Chipset drivers can be a problem too..
(video overlaying) we will see

no, it's not a local disk but the DVD rom of my CID650 (a double din vga touchscreen from cartft) links by usb port. My PC is a laptop with a pentium processor and windows XP SP2 ans USB 1.0. The graphic card is an intel chipset.

But yes this DVD Rom works whith WMP (but the touchscreen is disabled) .. Maybe there are USB drivers conflicts beetween the universal USB Touchscreen driver and the USB Media storage driver ?

uhh sh... now i understand. I think always infill G4 2DIN PC :-)

CID650, yes, i know it. USB linked CDROM. uhhh. sometimes a problem, not specially CID650, but with Notebooks, specally if the USB-cdroms powered over USB. :-) But this is notyour problem - i think.. the touchscreen driver is normaly not a problem too. they use a completly other hardware device ID.

But your notebook has really USB 1.1? thats tooo slow for DVD playback ??? I´m not really shure, but i remember back to the year 2001, Lifebook B21xx Series Notebook with USB 1.1, there DVD Playback not working too with the external USB DVD Rom and USB 1.1.
After i installed a PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card, it works - but not really
stable, so PCMCIA Cardbus Type has not really better performance...

I think you should buy a cheap centrino Notebook with USB2 and Intel 845 Chipset.. I bought few months ago some used Lifebook S6120 Notebooks for each 150€, and give all my collegues one of this, and they are very happy with this, very stable for car use,
and you can underclock the processor to 600MHZ bia BIOS (is absolutly fast enough) and the power consumation is less than 10 Watt with disabled TFT Screen. really great and much better than a car PC, the S6120 fits small and light, is optimized for mobile use.. and the best way under the seat to use with a external Display like yours :-)
maybe try a other notebook from our friends, is that works correctly, think about my words.. sell your old Notebook, don´t buy other addons for your old Notebook, remember that that can works, but you are shure that it works permamently? ;-)

hehe, i do the same mistakes with my first car PC in my youth.. (as i was young) :-)
sometimes it is better, to take a little more money and a good basic hardware, and all other is only software problems :-)))

;-)

yes of course I can try with a other notebook, not a lifebook, but a HP 6715B with AMD Turion chipset and ... usb 2.0 Wink

And yes, I think like you that USB 1.1 could be a big problem !

to be continued ... Wink

I try VLC and it's the same thing that WMP ! I think that the data transfer rate is too low to share the communication between USB DVD player and USB Touchscreen ! So the USB 2.0 is really need
