Great for modified/selfbuilt small cases with the onboard PSU not taking up space inside the case.

I was surprised to see that everything works out of the box on Ubuntu 10.10. No tricks no hacks needed. I was a bit worried about HDMI audio, and wireless, but they both work flawlessly on linux.
The
board is pretty fast in one-task-at-a-time situations, but it starts to lag a bit on multitasking. I use it as a media center on a M350 case and it totally shines in this scenario.
The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that fans speed cannot be regulated. They run always at full speed (included fan spins at 3000rpm and is very noisy). You need a third party controller if you want to use a fan. The board is given as "fanless", though.

Questa scheda Zotac sembra un ottimo prodotto, perché oltre ad essere la prima soluzione ION-based disponibile per il mercato "fai-da-te", mostra anche una grande completezza di connessioni. In partic
olare le connessioni audio e video sono spettacolari (HDMI+DVI+VGA, audio analogico 5.1 + SP-DIF elettrico + SP-DIF ottico + 7.1 digitale su HDMI); poi ci sono 6+4 USB, 1 GigaEthernet, 3 SATA, 1 eSATA, 1 PS2 e 1 seriale. La versione 'A' offre anche convertitore DC-DC on-board e alimentatore 19V "brick" (quindi tutto passivo) e un modulo WiFi su slot PCIe.

Allora, la versione 'A', la più completa, dovrebbe avere uno street-price attorno ai 170 Euro, e per assemblare un PC completo basta aggiungere due moduli di RAM da 1GB PC6400 (20 Euro in tutto) e un HDD da 2.5" (40-50 Euro a spendere tanto), arrivando così attorno ai 220 Euro tutto compreso. Naturalmente manca il contenitore, ma quello visto il tipo di alimentazione può essere qualsiasi cosa, da un contenitore Mini-ITX da 20-30 Euro, a una scatola qualsiasi a... niente (io ad esempio sto meditando di installare una di queste schede semplicemente su un pannellino appeso al muro, a vista). In ogni caso il PC finito e inscatolato rimane ampiamente sotto ai 300 Euro, e non mi pare proprio che si possa fare altrettanto con nessuna altra piattaforma, a livelli paragonabili di ingombro e consumi. Rimanendo in campo Atom + ION, basti considerare che l'altra soluzione attualmente disponibile, l'Acer Aspire Revo, costa esattamente 300 Euro, ma monta il 230 anziché il 330 e ha meno connessioni (in più ha la licenza winzozz e un lettore di flash). Poi sempre a 300 Euro c'è l'Asus B206, che non è basato su ION, ma è invece un "accrocchione" fatto con il chip-set obsoleto di Intel + una GPU ATI pressapoco equivalente a quella dello ION, e anch'esso monta l'Atom 230.

This is the best of very few motherboards with Power Supply Unit ONBOARD currently available on the market.
It is great for using as Home Theatre PC or small and completely silent home server.

perfektes ion system inklusive netzteil (ähnlich einem laptopnetzteil) passiv gekühlt, geht sehr gut, lüfter is dabei, macht kaum krach, kann also auch genutzt werden, wenn man auf nummer sicher gehen
